The certificate program offers an alternative opportunity for piano teachers who are unable to pursue a traditional degree program or musicians who wish to enhance and update skills in teaching and/or performance.

The Pre-M.C.M. Study is designed to provide a method by which students who have bachelor’s degrees with majors other than music may attain competence in areas.

Admission Requirement

Bachelor’s degree in music or its equivalent is required. Students accepted for the program may be required by the faculty to take Pre-M.C.M. courses if their undergraduate degree was not taken with a concentration in the field of specialization classes at the graduate level.

교회 음악 사역에 관심이 있는 분으로 음악 대학 4년 졸업자나 학사에 준하는 학위가 있는 자, 교회 음악 석사 과정 신청자 중에 전공 실기 분야의 학사 학위가 없는 자는 Pre-M.C.M Course를 택해야 한다.

Music Placement Test

The placement test will begin during the registration period to determine proficiency levels of entering students.

Requirement for Degree

M.C.M. requires completion of 36 units of graduate courses, 12 units from the Core Courses, 16 units from the General Courses, and 8 units from Applied Music Studies. Graduate Recital or Graduate Project is required.

Awareness, Freedom & Muscular Control

Topics: The postural relationship of the head, neck and back Breath, Walking, Sitting & Standing with ease and presence Use of the arms and hands in instrumental performance, Repetitive Stress Syndrome, Stage Fright, Poise and artistry in performance

기본동작, 목의 긴장 이완, 머리의 바른 자세, 척추의 자세, 호흡 법, 자유로운 몸의 움직임, 연주시의 좋은 동작, 근육통을 유발하는 나쁜 자세의 교정. 연주시 최고의 효율을 얻게 하려는 방법.

What is Alexander technique?

1. a way of learning how you can get rid of harmful tension in your body.

2. a method that works to change (movement) habits in our everyday activities

3. a method for improving ease and freedom of movement, balance and coordination.

4. not a series of treatments or exercises, but rather a reeducation of the mind

Who need Alexander technique?

1. Do you carry excess tension in your body?

- cause a variety of unpleasant symptoms

- interfere with your ability to perform activities

2. Do you suffer from Repetitive Strain Injury or Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

3. Do you have a backache or stiff neck and shoulders?

4. Do you become uncomfortable when sitting at your computer for long time?

5. Are you a singer, musician, actor, dancer or athlete and feel you are not performing at your full potential?

- performers who want to improve the quality of their singing, playing, acting or dancing.
